Disposable Coveralls: The Most Commonly Used Protective Clothing by Industry

In general, disposable coveralls comes in two main types: lightweight coveralls and heavy-duty coveralls. Disposable coveralls can be divided into two main categories: those for use in industries that require light protection, such as food production, utilities maintenance and manufacturing; and those for use in industries that require heavy protection, such as power generation, oil and gas extraction or construction sites. The following list highlights some of the most common uses for disposable coveralls by industry.

Disposable Coveralls for Food Production

Food production facilities require disposable coveralls that can protect workers from many different hazards. Depending on the type of food being produced and the number of workers in the facility, coveralls may be worn in one or all of the following industries: food processing, beer and liquor production, seafood processing, dairy product and fruit and vegetable processing. Food production workers are at risk of contact with many different types of contaminants, including bacterial pathogens such as Escherichia coli (E. coli), Salmonella and Listeria, and viral pathogens such as Hepatitis A and B and Norovirus.

Disposable Coveralls for Utilities Maintenance

Depending on the type of utility maintenance job, workers may require disposable coveralls that are resistant to oil and grease, abrasion and chemicals. These coveralls may also be resistant to puncture and tear. In the oil and gas industry, workers may work in refineries, storage terminals and other facilities with hazardous substances. The coveralls used in those facilities must be resistant to oil, grease and abrasion, and be puncture resistant. Maintenance workers in utilities may also be exposed to electricity, and coveralls used in that industry must be resistant to abrasion and puncture.

Disposable Coveralls for Manufacturing

Manufacturers require coveralls that can protect workers from many different hazards, especially those in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Manufacturers also require coveralls that are chlorine resistant and can resist abrasion. These coveralls must also be resistant to oil, grease and abrasion. In the food production industry, workers may be exposed to pathogens, such as Salmonella, E. coli and Listeria. Protective clothing must protect against these pathogens. The chemical manufacturing industry requires coveralls that protect against chemical splashes and that can resist abrasion and puncture.

Disposable Coveralls for Power Generation

Power generation facilities require disposable coveralls that are resistant to abrasion and puncture. Workers in the oil and gas industry also require coveralls that can resist abrasion and puncture, as well as those that can resist chlorine. The chemical manufacturing industry requires coveralls that are resistant to abrasion and puncture.

Disposable Coveralls for Oil and Gas Extraction

Oil and gas extraction facilities require coveralls that can protect workers from abrasion, puncture and chlorine. Workers in the oil and gas industry may be exposed to oil, grease and petroleum hydrocarbons such as benzene, toluene and xylene.

Disposable Coveralls for Construction Sites

Construction sites require coveralls that are resistant to abrasion, puncture and chlorine. Workers in the chemical manufacturing industry may be exposed to chlorine or hydrocarbon chemicals, such as petroleum hydrocarbons. Workers in the oil and gas industry may be exposed to oils, grease, petroleum hydrocarbons and acids.
